Draft Possibilities at QB

Most probably think the Saints will grab another young QB to develop and backup Brees. I'd peg 4th Rd as high as they would go. I like Matt Scott AZ and put him 5th Rd in my last mock. I dunno if he could even be had in the 4th now as he is rising up boards. Here's a guy that some have mentioned- Sean Renfree from Duke. Mayock just named him his QB sleeper pick-
Sean Renfree, Duke (6-3, 219)
40-time: 4.76
Hands: 9 inches
Round Projection: 5-6
Mayock: "He hurt his shoulder on the last snap of their bowl game and might not even get drafted. But he’s got the best anticipation and time of any quarterback in this draft. Part of it is because he’s got an average arm and has to. (Duke head coach) David Cutliffe told me that Sean approaches the game with a work ethic and passion similar to Peyton Manning’s."

I could see him in Payton's workshop.
Who else ya got 4th Rd or later?

I said it before; I'll say it again.
Brees' successor's parents haven't been born yet.

He will look damn sexy holding that clipboard

not successor, just a backup. Daniel got a pretty nice contract for a guy groomed for 3 years that only threw 9 passes. I'd like to see a notch up in talent and turn it into some draft currency- similar to Schaub in Atlanta or Cassel in NE.

I have a take on how the draft breaks down as the rounds go along. You see two different directions increase. One, players are taken on plain value no matter where the position is on your need list. Matt Tennant and Charles Brown might fit into that category. They were ranked too high to let go by. At the same time you see teams target specific needs with the player thought to be ranked two or three rounds slower. I'd put Usama Young and Stanley Arnoux as possibly those kind of picks.

Charles Brown is yet to be determined obviously, but I really had high expectations with Tennant. I thought we got a steal and had our center of the future for the next 8-10 years. BDP has done just fine and I have no issues with him, just disappointed that Tennant didn't materialize.

Please stop mentioning former draft picks before I break something Young I wasn't too bothered by. Thought he'd be another diamond in the rough the staff found. Arnoux was a total WTF pick for me
I agree with Hoodoo. I don't see us drafting a QB unless they see a real talent fall. Then again they did draft Canfield in 7 so anything can happen.

I'm the guy who said the Saints should draft Russell Wilson last year (obviously I didnt think he'd be drafted as high and would be as good this early)
Here's the QB I think the Saints should draft this year. Now listen up cause this involves you (Elle Driver reference)
Actually its two possibilities...
Matt Scott or Zac Dysert.
Both QBs are more athletic than you think. Can throw on the run and can move the chains. They've been through some adversity which is good also.
Would be ideal backup QBs to learn from Brees imo.

Don't want to draft a QB at all. My .02

I would agree with you that Scott seems to be the consensus favorite to back Drew, I just hope we don't waste a draft pick on a QB this year unless we plan on keeping him around for 7+ years
Edit: I like everything I have read up on with Renfree, although I don't really watch duke football...ever...

Sean Renfree, QB, Duke
Height: 6-3. Weight: 219.
Projected Round (2013): 5-7.
Nathan Stanley, QB, Southeastern Louisiana
Height: 6-5. Weight: 215.
Projected Round (2013): 6-FA.
Tino Sunseri, QB, Pittsburgh
Height: 6-2.
Projected Round (2013): 7-FA.
Jordan Rodgers, QB, Vanderbilt (Arron Rogers' little brother)
Height: 6-1. Weight: 205.
Projected Round (2013): 7-FA.
I like Renfree a lot. I'd take Rogers as a UFA.

They probably shouldn't have passed on Jordan Jefferson last year, I'm not sure we find Brees' replacement now

Take Geno Smith at 15th.

Ryan Griffin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tulane
Posted on 4/6/13 at 6:12 pm to rzd30
Dysert and Scott are nice later rounds possibility. I mocked Scott to the Saints but now think he's more likely gone at #144 (5th) fo sho and possibly at #109 (4th) as well.
Griffin looks like a great camp body to see what he's got. Not out of the question that he might turn into a commodity in 3 years. I'm impressed with the deal Daniel got for 9 career passes.

I watched this guy play several times and came away very impressed. He was always the best player on the field.

anybody else have a take on Matt Scott from Arizona? The more I read the more I like this cat. I'd love to see a 4th or 5th rd value QB pick. Someone with more tools than Daniel had to develop. If Daniel was worth a 3yr/$10mil deal after 9 passes in 3 years of NFL tutelage just think what an even better guy could fetch. My thought is a 4th to 6th Rd QB that turns into at least a 2nd Rd pick 3 years later (ala Schaub or Cassel). And ya have a young guy with upside in the event there was a Brees outage.

So he can blackmail CSP into starting him like he obviously did to Les....
