Well Auburn did win 8 games in Malzahn's first year at Auburn as the OC with Chris fricking Todd as the QB. The guy is a helluva offensive coach. Hell, they managed to win eight games even after Cam left with Trotter and Moseley...
but his lack of experience as head coach does make this somewhat of a baffling hire in my opinion. maybe even more strange than when Auburn hired Chizik a few years ago.
Sure, Newton was great but at least he had a veteran offensive line blocking for him in that 2010 season. The idea that Newton made both is false. He had a hand in it no doubt though.
