Have any of you heard of them? Just found out my co-worker plays bass for them and I'm wondering if they're worth checking out. They're apparently on a hiatus but I've heard they're decent...

I saw them at the Spanish Moon two or three months ago. They are good, definitely worth checking out.

He's hot and I want to hit on him but being oblivious to his band is not a good start

They are a great band. They can be a bit pretentious at times, but Will is a really great wordsmith and songwriter.
Black Sheep Boy and The Stage Names are fantastic and their best records, IMO.

When I first heard them, the guy's voice annoyed me at first, but it grew on me after listening for a bit.

Okkervil River is a great band and Will Scheff is an amazing songwriter. I saw them when they opened up for The New Pornographers at the HOB around 2006ish. That combo made it one of the best concerts I have ever been to.

Awesome band. Great lyricist but not the best live show you will ever see. Caught them at Tips and Plants and Animals, their opener, totally upstaged them. It looks like he wants to get down as a rock star but is afraid he might hurt himself. Sounds weird but thats how I saw it. Doesnt have great stage presence and could really win over the crowd. I will stick to the albums.

While I lived in Austin, I got to see them quite a bit. I really enjoy their music. My favorite song is Lost Coastlines
