No flopping rule. It's about time. Looking at you, Clippers.

Seems like more of a PR move to appease fans, these fines won't even deter guys making the league min.
Until the refs actually start handing out Ts for the flopping, it will continue.
Let's say Anthony Davis fouls out b/c of a BS flop foul and we wind up losing the game. Seeing CP3 get a 5k fine the next day for flopping isn't gonna take away that L. If you flop then consequences need to happen during the game.

I disagree. $5000 is $5000. If I have to pay a $50 fine, it doesn't break my bank, but I'm still not happy about it.

Well that's my point. These small fines aren't enough of a deterrent when you're getting paid millions of dollars. Players get fined each time they get a technical foul yet they still do it, so how is this going to be any different?
Unless the consequences affect the flopper during the game, it will continue IMO.

SHOCKINGLY, Blake Griffin doesn't like the rule. Imagine that!
Funny how he thinks flopping is "making a play".
quote:
"It's not going to win or lose games for anybody. It's a good way for the NBA to get more money," Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin said.
"But now you're telling me if it's Game 7 of the NBA Finals and a guy has a chance to make a play he's going to be like, 'Well, do I want this $10,000 or do I want a championship?' "

I get the impression that flopping is coached in Flop City.

Exactly why I don't think this will change things. Give the flopper a foul or a T and you will see a lot less flopping.

Flopping is not something the game officials need to be worrying about. In a lot of the instances, the refs just plain can't tell in real time, thus the NBA reviewing the games.

Totally disagree. Flopping is a problem especially when players are getting fouls called on them as a result of it. I'm mainly talking about the obvious flops ala Reggie Evans on Vasquez last year. Evans should have been hit with a T or a personal foul in that incident.

I'm not saying that they shouldn't be allowed to call a T, but there should be reviews also. In fact, I think they should be allowed to call technical fouls on Flop City and Bron Bron. They should also be assessed a technical when they were found to flop on review. That way, the technicals would also add to their T total, which could push them closer to a suspension for too many.

This I can agree with. I believe the Euroleague has a system in place where they give out Ts or personal fouls and a free throw if they see a player flopping. I think this would be more of a deterrent than a slap on the wrist fine.

Atleast they are trying to do something about it.
