Then why not hit on Friday and Saturday, then pitch Sunday?
Because you pitch your best guy on Friday

What people aren’t mentioning is LSU really doesn’t need him as a hitter. At least not nearly as bad as they do as a pitcher.

This team is stacked with hitters they aren’t stacked with starting pitchers that sit upper 90’a and can hit 100.

A- he will absolutely never catch at LSU B - he's a pitcher first, and he's going to be protected like a stud pitcher should be C - our lineup is filled with people who can hit. We will not all of a sudden start struggling to score runs because Skenes isn't hitting
All this is spot on but I will add that it’s not like he won’t be an option at all on Saturdays. He could start DH based on a matchup Jay likes or he could PH. But I think the plan early on is to use those Saturdays to allow others an opportunity. Jobert, Jones, Frey, Travinski can all DH for this team. We will need them to get ABs too. I don’t know if there will be a game before sec play where the starting lineup is exactly how we finish the game.

I'm just worried that we will not go UNDEFEATED if Skenes misses two AB's a week.

When did they say he wouldn't hit Saturday?

Absolutely, but another thing to consider is that we don't have a shortage of people to use in that DH spot. There may be plenty of Saturdays where he simply isn't needed.

Also, I understand he is a good hitter, but Air Force isn't facing SEC pitching. Is he so good of a hitter that he can just turn it on consistently in limited at bats? It may be a little tougher for him to get in a rhythm at the plate in his limited attempts. If he is the absolute Friday night ace, and we have other people tearing it up at the plate, then I'm fine with his plate opportunities being even more limited than people think they will be.

He barely played C at Air Focre. He won’t play any at lsu on the verge of his draft year. Too much chance for injury & fatigue.

And I think there is even a situation at DH where he doesn’t hit as much as planned. If Jared Jones can mash & Jobert hits well, they might not even find the need for him to hit much at all. Jobert was hot & cold last year but people forget he carried the offense for stretches. If he tightens up he could be a force

So he’s fresh on Friday night. Instead of hitting and running bases for two games then pitching the 3rd

Ding, ding, ding…we have a winner.
Nope. 22 year old kids are still fresh after DHing two games then sleeping.

The winner was the poster above who said he could take a fastball of his hands, or otherwise get injured. But “freshness”? Give me a break.
