Is there a way to combine queries by using BOTH poster name and THREAD TITLE? For instance, if I did not bookmark a post and I were trying to find only my post from a 300+ page thread that's at least a couple of months old, what's the best way to get clean results of only my posts?

I'll hang up and listen.

Google is a better option than TD Search.

Yep, just copy and paste this into your search bar:
quote:

site:tigerdroppings.com NPComb TITLE

Like this.

Thanks that was helpful but what I wanted to see is where I posted in the Pictures from the days gone by thread. I posted some pics and don't want to repost the same ones... So I wanted to look at the ones I posted before. Sure, I can doxxy myself but that could literally be a 100 pages back.

Do I tried a query similar to yours but struck out

site:tigerdroppings.com NPComb Pictures from days gone by

Which thread is it, the one on the OT?

I searched for your name there but it's not finding your posts from some reason.

For example:
quote:

OWLFAN86 (inurl:pictures-from-days-gone-by) site:tigerdroppings.com

returns Owlie's posts, like this.

But when we try it with you:
quote:

NPComb (inurl:pictures-from-days-gone-by) site:tigerdroppings.com

Nothing is returned, like this.

ETA: I've actually thought about this before, and each user has a unique ID number — yours is 178680 (look at the link address). It would seem logical to able to search Google for keywords and restrict it to URLs with that ID number (basically searching only your User Profile for those words), but that doesn't seem to work. I'm guessing they prevent bots from indexing those User Profile pages.

This is actually built-in on the site, but unfortunately the default 'Message Board Search' by author only queries for posts that are less than 15 days old.

in Google search, if you put a string in double quotes, the results have to contain that string. try:

site:tigerdroppings.com "pictures from days gone by" "NPComb"

Yeah, I think that returns all of his posts with those keywords across the site.

Since he was looking for his posts only within a certain thread, I was trying to restrict it by using the 'inurl:' operator, which looks at the text inside the URL itself, i.e. the title of the post.

It seems like it's only images that he's searching for, so the only thing I could think of was that URL string and his name—like this one would be "using-search-function-queries" or "103878155".

I'm still doing something wrong, though. Not sure.

The site search function just needs to be removed at this point.
