I love the hire but hiring a complete new staff can be a risky gamble as we all have seen. Sometimes the HC can mold but not always. Sometimes the folks you want won’t join. Nick has the “process” down for assistant coaches but IDK about Kelly. Doesn’t seem like he had as much turnover as Bama.

It's possible that he might mitigate that risk by keeping much of the defensive staff intact.

Was hoping he could persuade Freeman to come, but I knew that was a long shot. He definitely needs to get rid of Moffitt and some others.

It’s going to feel weird having quality coordinators trip over themselves to come to LSU now that there is a real coach in place.

I see a lot of the defensive staff staying in place. New coordinators both ways, hoping Kelly can convince Jones to stick around on staff as a safety coach or Co-DC. I think he’s a sharp mind who could benefit a lot under a guy like Kelly

Jones definitely seemed to flourish after Ed got out of the way. But something tells me that Kelly is going to want a fresh start on that side of the ball.

If Kelly strikes out on a few DCs, he may give Deronte a chance.
