I lived in Americus, GA, for a while (Habitat HQ). I was done with them after seeing the condition of the house just a year or so after working on it.
I can also attest to not being able to recall any person of color at all on the volunteer teams I was a part of.

I volunteered for another organization for veterans, and it was the same way. Easily 75% were white men. White privilege to have all that free time to volunteer, I guess?

Visit the homeowner. Scope the work. Detail supplies needed. Solicit donations. Solicit volunteers. Organize the workday from tasks to lunches and running to store for supplies. Out of pocket for extras. Cleanup afterward when many volunteers left. Visiting homeowner afterward and making final tweaks that volunteers missed.
