If that's true, I think it's certain that Woodward really wanted Riley. Once Riley and his agent made Woodward and LSU look like a fool, he offered a boat load of cash to the only coach that he knew would leave a major program. Brian Kelly is the furthest thing from a coach worth $15 million a year.

Imagine trying to make Brian Kelly being plan B look like a negative for Woodward. 
Also HIGHLY unlikely Kelly was not Woodwards first and only aggressive target, beyond casual inquiries with actual backup plans.
