To me it signals something
Kelly wants rings. He wants to win. He wants to prove that he is better than everyone else.
He was a steadying force at ND and capped out his abilities there with the talent he could pull. Now he is here. We all knew Riley was capped out with his talent and he would dominate here... the same is true for BK.
He is coming here for a reason. He's coming here to prove a point.

Agreed. Kelly had his phenomenal job at a blue blood with his legacy all but cemented. He decides I want to coach against the hardest conference and division in football. I respect and admire that level of confidence, balls and competitiveness.
