he had a great quote on Rogan about homelessness that has stuck with me.

"i'm not opposed to a carrot and stick when it comes to the homeless, but you have to have the stick."

To assume that a newly homeless person is only homeless because they are addicted to drug abuse seems flawed. Many people live paycheck to paycheck and when that paycheck stops they often don’t have financial reserves to cover those expenses.

i believe his findings were that 90+% were mental issues or drug addiction in the homeless population. most people that are there because they lost a job were either in shelters or back on their feet fairly quickly.
