There’s some on this board that will blame Woodward and say how much this is embarrassing for LSU and even Oklahoma… But I would speculate that you’re the one that’s correct here.
If I’m a winner and that’s all that matters to me then I want to win conference and national championships. I want to beat the best coaches with the best players the game has to offer.
Riley knows that by leaving Oklahoma and going to USC allows him to continue enjoying the same amount of coaching success with the least amount of resistance. He’s young and isn’t ready or confident enough to put his coaching reputation on the line playing in the SEC West. The reason why the winner of the SEC and especially the SEC West win national titles if they make it to the playoffs is bc they have the deepest player talent and have the best coaching staffs.
So, I say good riddance bc we deserve a coach who accepts the challenge ahead and who’s confident plus willing to put their coaching reputation on the line.
