NW didn't take a hit at all
The reason Zimmerman walked and those guys didn't is that Zimmerman was following Trayvon Martin and talking to the cops. Martin attacked him and Zimmerman had to defend himself.
He didn't try to corner Martin nor did he initiate a violent confrontation, Martin closed the gap and thus he was clapped
While the guys in Brunswick likely had good intentions, they corralled Arbrey into am ambush thus initiating the violent confrontation themselves
Lesson, just observe and report, you can even follow them and if they attack you just Rittenhouse them but do not initiate or force a violent confrontation (unless you observe a forcible felony)

I'm more familiar with the Zimmerman-Martin case than AA's (via the Trayvon Hoax work of Joel Gilbert), but from Trayvon's perspective he was being stalked by Zimmerman, would have had no knowledge of Zimmerman's motives, and acted to defend himself.
But if these cases are different it's not for this reason.
