There are 3 dynamics at play here.

The moral, mostly right and center left, God fearing. Governed by "do unto others ..." and their conscience.

The amoral. Most of the left . Not concerned with right or wrong, but know the difference. Suppress their conscience. Just want to win at any cost. As said, end justifies the means.

And, the immoral. No sense of right or wrong. No conscience. Pawns of the amoral. i.e., the pedos and George Floyds.
