In what way did this happen?
The Zapruder film was bought by Life magazine within the first day. Life let the feds know they had it, so the feds went on contract to borrow the footage.
It was sent to the "spook" side of the Kodak lab to be developed for review. In the first night (Saturday), the duty agent developed the film and returned it to the waiting federal agents.
The very next night, the film was returned to the lab to get developed again, this time the head of the CIA film lab would develop it. The second version would go on to be what we see as the Zapruder film, with many edits.
Years later...the Zapruder film was released...
Agent 1 knew it was altered but could not say anything for treasonous reasons. It wasn't until 4-5 years ago, an archival specialist at the Smithsonian noticed a difference in the negatives with the footage, he began a search which revealed the two films, and came to the conclusion a Hollywood level edit team works the film.
What does that tell us?
