In 2007, LSU was better than anybody in the East.
In 2005, the same was probably true, but Georgia beat us in the SECCG, so we didn't prove it.
In 2004, Auburn was clearly better than anyone in the conference.
In 2003, LSU was clearly the best in the conference.

So, assuming you're right and the premier team in the west is better than the premier team in the east, 2008 is at least the fourth of the last six years in which the best team in the conference is in the west.

yeah and i guess this is good right???? Ha ha! sucks. yeah we get all that plus the three best from the east.

and pundits want to bitch about our schedule.
