Do you really think Woodward fired a coach mid year that everyone already knew was going to be fired mid year without having the deal done?

The alternative is Woodward read his and LSU's press clippings and thought he'd swing his dick around and get whoever he wanted.

Yes, Coach O is done and it was obvious and you need to allow the recruiting landscape to absorb the reality earlier. If you fire him later in the season you don't give recruits enough time to adjust to the news then you don't have time for the new coach to hold on to them or close the deal.

When it happened I really thought the timing pointed to Petersen but I'll admit I've lost some confidence in the prediction. Still hoping for that late-breaking curveball though.

Or it's possible Woodward isn't the savant everybody thinks he is and he went off half cocked. His guy got cold feet and now he's scrambling.

The other theory is that things were so bad with O that his hand was forced. I mean look at this team and look at the transfers and the hires. Even if you can’t get a home run, you cant afford a few more years like this.
