Seriously why bash him? I will admit I do not agree with him running Bush up the middle on 3-1 or 4-1. I wouldnt mind seeing duece in backfield and at least being a decoy and throw a screen to Bush.

The problem with Saints has never been offense but defense and therefore your anger and blame should go to a man named Gibbs. Here is a man who was never a defensive coordinator before SP hired him. His defense continues to rank in bottom of the NFL. In 3 years we continue to get beat by the deep ball, the front 4 continues to not be able to pressure the QB. We need to get rid of him and add a more aggressive DC. Think about it, if our defense was 10-15 instead of 28th we would be 3-0. We would have made play-offs last year, and we might have played in a Super Bowl instead of just defensive championship. Defense wins championships and ours couldnt stop USC.

btw: dont blame injuries, these guys are all professionals and therefore should be able to perform their job. Just like any job they are there because they are good enough.

But, he should of let Reggie take it to the sideline on the 2nd and 1 or maybe the 3rd and 1 before halftime!

Well in those situations, I dont mind him getting it to Bush in space. With a pitch, swing pass, or something because Bush is our best play maker in space.
But the dude cant grind it out, couldnt at USC and cant in NFL so why continue it?

I agree with the up middle!

I was just pointing out that I think reggie could of scored from the goal line....other than up the middle! (but he could of jumped over both lines maybe)

Pierre made a bad read on the goaline play - if you watch it closely there was a lane he could have go through to score but he followed the FB and got stuffed. We are 1 - 2 after 3 tought games. We can win the next 3 and everyone will forget all this stuff - Bless you boys!

It's the easiest thing to do for simple-minded people when things go wrong, it's easier to bash the coach, then to think the team will just improve, which it can and will

This is all about Deuce and the appearance that one of the most beloved players in team history is not only getting shafted, but getting shafted at the expense of wins. Had Deuce run those 3rd and 1's with the same results I bet the focus would be more on the O line and the defense and Payton wouldn't be taking as much personal criticism.

I disagree. Our payroll is skewed towards the offense so more should be expected from them. The best way to cover up a weak defense is offensive production. The first 4 games of last year are a perfect example of how the offense not performing up to the level it should puts the defense in situations it can't possibly be expected to handle.

This is just stupid. There's a reason why teams have depth charts and don't insert players into the game in a random order. I'm not trying to defend Gibbs because I agree that we should be getting more out of the defensive upgrades we've made, but you can't completely discount injuries just because you want to run Gibbs out of town.

these guys are paid to play football, so they play. These guys are adequate enough to play in the NFL then they are asked to contribute.
I dont blame injuries cause every team suffers through them. There is 1 constant in the last 3 years and it is Gibbs defense. This is another year it looks we will finish in bottom half of the league in defense.

Yes, and there's usually a good reason some get paid more than others. I don't disagree with your general premise that we need a better defensive coordinator, but it makes no sense to completely ignore injuries to productive starters when evaluating the performance of the defense.

The thing is, if our defensive coordinator realized this, blitzing more or applying more pressure on a QB could limit our secondary.
Fujita's injury has been good for us I believe cause Dunbar is a player. Our front 4 is not as good as advertised in the fact we cant get to the QB. They need help and were giving QB's all day to throw the ball.
They are able to make 5 step drops, 7 step drops and still have time.

Because Payton has been fricking up!!! Two weeks in a row u only need one yard to win. you go Deuce on your team and you don't put him in. That's just dumb!!!

Someone asked why Payton was getting bashed and I supplied an answer, which you apparently agree with. What the hell is wrong with you?

well im sorry---you made it sound like you were agreeing with him in a way that seemed it was only circumstantial that payton was being blamed, and that you didnt believe it was really his fault
