It's not racist. It's annoying but the people are doing it out of good feelings and love for the team and the Braves identity. The nickname has been intended as an inspiration to a team. Something to look up to.
Patriots, Braves, Cowboys, Redskins, 49ers, Volunteers, Mountaineers, Ragin' Cajuns all have admirable and inspirational qualities.
