Anybody got any tips for hunting public land in western Kentucky? Going up to sloughs in Henderson the end of next week for 5 days.

Went to Sloughs twice last year bow hunting. Let me know what questions you have and I’ll help all I can. We let 1 small buck walk and had a couple encounters with some mature deer but not close enough. Had a great time.

I was looking at hunting one of the eastern units. It’s all hardwood hills no ag fields. The weather supposed to be great I just don’t know how I timed the rut. And what should expectations be on seeing deer and people pressure from your experience.

Everything in the East except the Cape Hills closed last year on the 30th. Duncan, Sauerheber and Crenshaw closed for the ducks so you may want to check that. Call the station there and they will help you with any questions. We spent time at Grassy lake on our second trip and saw rutting activity when you will be there. There will be pressure and can’t get away from it. Geaux across the river to Torinos for pizza and beer one night, it was awesome. Good luck and keep us posted.
