I have literally never had a job where it was okay to only work 40 hrs/week.

That's one of the biggest issues, these young "professionals" have zero clue what it takes to make a difference... for the co., themselves or anyone else.
One starts working @ 7am, one gets out of bed @ 9am. One is pay for results and one has mastered the art of looking busy. One never gets home before 6pm & the other never works a minute past 4:55.
I see it every day with employees & a deaf dumb blind man can tell one from the other in minutes.

I've never had a job where I consistently worked less than 80 hours a week. It's not unusual for me to hit 100 hours in a week not counting the stuff I do after I get home.
That doesnt mean I'm bitter towards those you can meaningfully produce in the work force in fewer hours. Plenty of incredibly important jobs can be done and done well in a 40 hour work week.
