If Tucker loses 2 games at MSU…

He gets the job at LSU. The SEC is dominated by defensive coaches. Outside of Luke Fickell, Tucker is the only other defensive coach being strongly considered.
Tucker is multiple when it comes to defense, he’s currently running a 4-3 at MSU, but has coached the 3-4 under Saban and Kirby championship game teams. He also gets recruiting in the SEC.
LSU (Emmert) hired Saban away from MSU after going 9-2 in 1999.

He’s losing at least 3: Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State and, maybe, Purdue.
Schedule to date:
Northwestern
Youngstown State
Miami-FL
Nebraska
Western Kentucky
Rutgers
Indiana
Best win is vs a 3-5 Nebraska team.

Michigan and Penn State are very beatable, I think he splits it and goes 1-1. They’re beating Purdue and losing to Ohio State.
Worst: 10-3
Best: 11-1

I think Michigan will beat them.
Will Clifford be available for the Penn St game? If so, Penn St should win that as well.
I kind of like Purdue against them, but we shall see.

Also, remember this isn’t his team, these are all Mark Dantonio recruits. Which is probably why he’s coaching the 4-3 vs 3-4.

Even if Tucker is equal to Napier, he makes 5.6 million to Napier’s 2 million. Why spend twice as much for essentially the same risk. You’re going to need money to hire top assistants, especially a top DC. The logic here has nothing to do with race.

There’s a reason why Tucker is making $5.6 million. Saban called the AD at MSU and told him to pay whatever you have to, to get Tucker out of Colorado.
Tucker is your defacto DC just Kirby at UGA and Saban at Alabama, you can a go pretty cheap with DC. He was Alabama DC when they won the championship in 2015 and was Kirby’s DC when they went to the championship in 2017.
Most of the money will go to building out the offensive staff.
