Would really have sucked for all of those people who were later exonerated

If you feel that the death penalty is a wonderful deterrent hen why is the murder rate going up? The truth is the death penalty does not work and it costs a lot more in legal costs due to all of the appeals.

It is way cheaper to give them a plea bargain of life without parole and take appeals off of the table

As to the thought that life without parole is easy on the prisoner then I suggest you go to Angola for a tour or talk to anyone recently released. If you think the death penalty using injections is easy then volunteer to go watch an execution.

As to the thought that they should be executed the way they killed their victim, read the bill of rights.

all that said, I am in favor of the death penalty for extreme crimes involving children.

Most exonerations now, are almost all due to the lack of DNA science in the past. DNA is exonerating them. I think we will see a massive drop in the amount of them in the future. DNA has also shown us how extremely unreliable eyewitness testimony is. People convince themselves that they remember something accurately, when in reality, most of the time, they are shooting blind by picking people out of a line-up.
