You're right in that it was going to happen. But, Powell was used as the good guy to sell the case. I think a lot of the media and public would not have trusted those other POS. But, when Powell broke out the cartoon show, he seemed like a guy telling the truth.

He willingly went there and did what he did... If he had balls about him, he would have resigned and blown the lid off of the bullshite... He went along to preserve his legacy and nothing more...
I hope his decision and actions haunted him for the rest of his days... What an absolute POS...
