Sorry, maybe I’m missing something here, but the very basis of that audio’s conversation seems totally wrong.

I don’t see anything in this text that requires schools to offer literature with opposing viewpoints. I think they’re referring to this section:

(2) teachers who choose to discuss current events or widely debated and currently controversial issues of public policy or social affairs shall, to the best of their ability, strive to explore such issues from diverse and contending perspectives without giving deference to any one perspective;


In no way is the Holocaust currently controversial or widely debated. No matter how much one side suggests, 99.999% of Americans accept and know that the Holocaust happened. The Holocaust is not the kind of currently controversial issue that the law was written for.

That recording is either a poor example of misunderstood guidance by the administrator, or this was an intentionally incorrect interpretation of the law to sway public opinion.

I'm reading the article and trying to match it up against this thread. What a shitshow.

Yeah, I don't know why they went back to the holocaust with this argument unless the Texas Bill is that vague.
