Then you asked the wrong question.
Next time you see him, ask if the hospital would let your family transport you home if you were unconscious 2° to hypoxia. Meanwhile, consider updating your living will and advance directives.

As an RT myself I approve this message. Going on the vent is a last resort, do everything you can to stay off. Once you go on the chances of survival are greatly decreased.
