It’s one of the greatest but it’s so difficult when you consider all the genres and great guitar playing through the years.
Just Ozzy’s catalog of guitar players is amazing. Jake E. Lee in Bark At the Moon is full of emotion, technicality, amazing tone, effects, it “launches” the song into another level, and you can sing it, just like Comfortably Numb. Randy Rhoads on Mr. Crowley absolutely smokes and is also full of emotion and technicality.
Gary Moore’s Parsienne Walkway and Still Got the Blues are masterfully written.
Hotel California deserves a mention with Dirty Fingers Don Felder and Joe Walsh creating a masterpiece.
The Skynyrd Guys have some gems - Simple Man, Freebird, Needle and the Spoon with the wah wah, etc.
Who can touch SRV’s pure raw emotion, vibrato, touch, and precision? I don’t think more emotion has ever been laid down than on “Life Without You.”
Slash absolutely owns so many GNR tracks. Go back and listen to how awesome the Sweet Child of Mine solo is. Just perfect for the moment, it makes you want to punch a baby. Descending and then ascending all the way back up. November Rain is a masterpiece, and Estranged may be the best of all.
Clapton on While My Guitar Gently Weeps is always in the conversation.
EVH, Billy Gibbons, Hendrix, Brian May, Neal Schon, Duane Allman, etc

Absolutely love all of Jake's playing on Bark At The Moon. Top five for sure.

I personally prefer Slither when he was with Velvet Revolver. Honestly, solos had pretty much vanished for the most part. Perhaps that is why it stuck to me so much. It’s a damn good tune either way imho.
My vote for best of all time is...Time. A list like this is obviously subjective, but that would be my pick.
