I had honey bees set up a hive in one of my walls in a storage shed many years ago much the same way you are describing.
When I found their entrance/exit hole, I blocked it off then drilled several holes in the sheetrock covering that area of the wall and sprayed with insecticide.
I was not in the least interested in trying to salvage any honey that may have been in their hive and more concerned not having my son, who was just a tot at the time, being stung by them.
I waited a couple days and then cut out the sheetrock to expose a fair size hive that I removed and then had to clean out the cavity really well since I knew it was going to get ripe once the hive was dead. Then put up a new piece of sheetrock, finished it and repainted.
Oh, and fixed the access hole when done.

Bruh, much better ways to remove a hive that don’t involve killing them. Without bees we don’t live
