Saw someone asking about Leeville boat launch a couple of weeks ago. First hand report

Hey guys,
Saw someone asking about the Leeville boat launch. I had nothing to do this morning so I rode down to Leeville from my home in Cut Off. I expected heavy damage and my expectations were sound. There is simply not much left of Leeville. Gails bait shop is gone along with Boudreaux bait shop are simply gone. I couldn’t even recognize exactly where gails was even located. I would guess the launch itself is fine but the limestone road into the launch area is washed out and I could t even get to the parking area. I don’t expect that to be fixed for quite awhile since I’m sure it’s low on the priority list. The pier is gone from what I could see. It also looks like most of the camps around marsh masters are also simply gone with only pilings left. There are a few camps that looked ok but they were above the surge. Even those looked to have sustained pretty heavy wind damage but they are still there. It’s fricked up but I don’t think anyone will be launching at the public launch anytime soon. Bobby Lynn’s was also pretty much destroyed but I saw some guys launching work boats there this morning. I don’t know if it’s open to the public or not, it’s just what I saw. A very depressing ride.
To top off that little trip, there was a real bad wreck on 3235 in the Cut Off area that happened at one of the sites where the utility ompanies are picking up timber’s that they had laid down so the linemen could access the poles in hard to reach swampy type areas. Looked like a Nissan Titan hit one of the trucks lined up with the crew picking up timber’s. It looks like he just plowed into the back of a stationary dually pick up and never hit the brakes. Anyway the Nissan went airborne and ended up a pretty squashed piece of metal upside down in the ditch.

What about Bason's Marina? Or the public launch in Fourchon? Does anybody know how those faired?

I haven’t checked out Bason’s or Fourchon. I should be able to get to Bason’s now so When I get a look at basons I’ll let you know.

I really want to go launch the boat and just look around and see what's changed. Likely a good bit of junk in the water though.

Fourchon is open. Catfish lake is open.
Keep in mind this was a report from a few days after the storm, some conditions could have changed.

Thanks for all of the great info. I also heard the Golden Meadow launch is OK, the dock is damaged but the launch is usable.
