The transition from NFL to college or the other way around seems to fail a lot more often than it works.

Gotta be able to recruit. While it may be easier at LSU than a lot of other schools, the school doesn’t just “recruit itself” as many would like to believe. At least not at the level required to compete for SEC titles.

I’m not saying we need to hire a head coach based solely on recruiting record, by any means. But he needs to be capable. You can afford to have one or two staff members that aren’t great recruiters, IMO, if they are experts at scheme or player development - and if you can offset that weakness elsewhere. But the head coach has to be able to close.
