Concerning “right”:
Actually, it is condescending, and they know it’s condescending.
OR, it’s someone who’s much in need of approval.
No in between.
I wasn’t going to go straight for the accusation of calling these people condescending, but that’s how it comes across. Generally speaking, the ones who do it are people I don’t tend to care for on personal levels. Reminds me of the “academic pause” Obama loved to do. It’s….very purposeful. It’s as if they’re trying to ensure you know they’re the smart one, you are not. Even if that’s not the intention, I wish my colleagues would quit with it because it’s really, really annoying. Moreso than the overuse of literal, amazing, do you know what I mean, etc.
Y’all help me. I’m clearly living on the edge of annoyance and might unmute to lose it on the next “right” presenter.

Again, as you describe it, sounds extremely condescending. I can get away with it as a teacher. I have students who literally are not on my level.
But among peers? C’mon…
