But here again…just about every news outlet threw this “victory” in our face when it happened but now that the inverse is shown to be true, how many news outlets will correct the record? I would be willing to say a week from now, you could poll 1,000 random people and the percentage who falsely believes we smoked a terrorist will be much higher than those who have the correct information that it was a heinous frick up.

I definitely think that thought's justified. But since you mentioned it, I've thought about that myself and for some reason I have a gut feeling that this may be a little different than the norm. I believe the whole withdrawal and all of its failures are so unavoidably notorious that it will stick in more peoples' minds than usual.
