The NBA seems to be much more focused on the belief that big market teams are the only teams that can contend and exist.
The nfl has teams like Buffalo, New Orleans, Green Bay, and Pittsburgh that are in smaller cities but still have massive followings, put up huge ratings in prime time games and have no issue attracting free agents.
Granted all those teams are recently successful franchises, so it’s likely just winning. But for some reason I have this perception that small market teams in the nfl are on a more level playing field.
