Police returned Sunday to investigate the area where the remains of now-deceased fugitive Brian Laundrie were found last week.

Amateur sleuths identified a rope near the scene, speculating it may have been a noose. Police confirmed, instead, that it was a rope swing, but officers continued to examine the area again, finding what appear to be small bone fragments, according Fox News’ Michael Ruiz.

It is unclear if the remains are human or animal, but the small size would suggest the latter.

Officers also found a reusable water bottle – similar to the one used by Laundrie – near the scene.
