I was a sophomore in Hs when this happened. Young enough to be naive about the political aspect, but old enough to comprehend what was happening.
I’m a HS teacher, and my current crop of students are great kids, but they don’t have a clue when they start complaining about adversity, hatred, etc.

I was 5 when this happened and I still remember watching it on TV with my mom.
I didn't fully understand what had happened back then obviously but I will never forget that day.

20 years ago a nasty bunch of crazy Muslims slaughtered thousands of Americans. We saw video of Muslims in the Middle East dancing in the streets in celebration. and even then there was no real blowback against Muslims in general.
How hateful and racist could a country be if it couldn’t even muster up violence against brown skinned Muslims even after that?

I was a JR in HS when this happened so I’m in the same boat as you. I was in shop class when it went down and our teacher turned on the tv. He stopped and told us this…
“We are not gonna go over a lesson plan today. What you are watching right now is history in the making and way more important than anything I could teach you. Because at this moment a lot of the way the world works is gonna change.”
