AEW Wednesday Night Dynamite Thread: KAZE NI NARE Edition

I'm sure we all wish the speediest of recoveries to HHH who apparently had some kind of "cardiac event" last week due to a genetic heart disorder which required surgery. WWE says he is expected to make a full recovery.

Mick Foley came out with a Facebook Live video yesterday titled "WWE, we've got a problem" where he outlined a few issues some of the company's fans have been screaming for a while. Foley himself said he doesn't think he could trust WWE's current "powers to be" with his career in their hands. That video should be warning to WWE b/c of who said it. Foley is 1 of the most beloved and respected people in the industry and when he talks, people generally listen.

To underscore the point... shortly after that video came out... it was reported that Kevin Owens redid his WWE contract at the start of the pandemic that now sees his current WWE deal end in January 2022 (in 4 months time).

Once that news was reported, Owens tweeted (and then deleted) a series of numbers. Those numbers turned out to be the coordinates for Mt. Rushmore. He also changed the location to 'almost there'. It just so happens that in the California indy promotion Pro Wrestling Guerilla, Owens (then known as Kevin Steen) was in a faction called Mt. Rushmore with Matt Jackson, Nick Jackson, & Adam Cole. Of course, Owens could always re-sign with WWE... but for now you can let the Kevin Steen to AEW speculation train begin chugging down the tracks.

There have reportedly been talks between AEW & Windham Rotunda (fka Bray Wyatt "The Fiend"). Of course, Rotunda is still under his 90 day no compete clause after his WWE release and can't officially be offered a contract anywhere else until that expires near the end of October.

AEW did try to work a deal with the band Europe to get the rights to "Final Countdown" as Bryan Danielson's AEW entrance theme (which was his entrance theme on the independent circuit prior to WWE)... but apparently there is a price AEW won't pay as Europe went above that number... so hip-hop remix of "Flight of the Valkyrie" it is.

Sorry I missed last night's NXT thread... surprise date with my gf... but I hear it was a fun show. I'll likely watch it off the DVR tomorrow.

I did see Dark though... and 2 notes I found interesting

A) Max Caster is back and used his controversial rap suspension to spoof on scripted promos in his rap last night... which was kinda funny

B) the Chicago crowd's reaction when they realized Alan "5" Angels was facing Evil Uno... including several "please don't fight" chants during the match. AEW really has this Dark Order/"Hangman" story over with the fans. I really can't wait for this payoff.

After AEW announced that Full Gear was being pushed back a week to November 13th so it won't be the same night as a UFC event & big boxing match... the company started looking for a new home for the PPV. It was originally scheduled for November 6th at the Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis (top capacity 10,600). Wikipedia (and that's the only source so it's nowhere near confirmed yet) is showing that the move may benefit AEW in another way as the show may end up going to the Target Center in Minneapolis (home of the NBA's Timberwolves... top capacity 19,300). Is AEW officially graduating to bigger arenas? Is our little upstart promotion growing up in front of our very eyes?

Another set of dates to watch to really see AEW's growth... the brand new UBS Arena opens its doors for the first time for the New York Islanders first home game on November 20, 2021. Raw will visit the UBS Arena on November 29, and then AEW announced it's bringing Dynamite/Rampage to that building on December 8. How will the crowds be for those 2 shows, separated by just a week and a half? Also... this will be AEW's third show in New York/New Jersey area of the fall/winter (the others being Arthur Ashe Stadium & Prudential Center)

Jon Moxley is in his hometown tonight... but it'll be a brutal homecoming for MOX as he faces the 'murder grandpa' Minoru Suzuki following Suzuki's attack Sunday night at All Out. The Cincinnati crowd better scream out 'Kaze Ni Nare' at the appropriate time during his entrance or Suzuki will go into the crowd and murder everyone.

After winning the Women's Casino Battle Royale at All Out to earn herself an AEW Women's World Championship match, Ruby Soho makes her AEW Dynamite debut tonight in a match against Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. lackey Jamie Hayter.

He kicked Lee Johnson's head into Lake Michigan last Friday night on Rampage and now tonight Malakai Black gets to murder another member of the Nightmare Family as he faces off with "The Natural" Dustin Rhodes.

Also... expect fall out from the other big debuts from Sunday night... Adam Cole (BAY BAY) and Bryan Danielson.
