re: A list of O's decisions since 2019 - truly impressive how terrible he's been

Do you bear any responsibility for allowing that? Isn't the AD partially responsible for the recommendations made for coach retention? Has these performance issues been documented and address with the employee?

coaching staff decisions have largely been disasters. Pelini and linehan are impressively bad decisions.
He’s been given the autonomy that any coach should be granted. He’s been given every opportunity to build his staff without outside influence. The results are his. The program in 2020 and 2021 is completely his.
Make of that what you will.

Who is responsible for allowing unchecked behavior and performance?

think part of O's problems are he's comically overconfident and lacking in self awareness.
I’m fairness, he did manipulate most of the fan base and the administration at that time into hiring him with his “flip the script” campaign
I’m sure he felt confident. Sadly, since 2019 he’s gotten arrogant and thinks he’s solely responsible for 2019 so he’s back to his “I’m the head coach” mentality and he’s gonna do it his way.
He’s bed allowed to do so bc the results are all on him. As they should be.

You make that clear in your prior posts from earlier in the year and yesterday, he fooled you and now the AD is on the hook.

"Coach O has set a new standard at LSU," athletic director Scott Woodward said in a statement. "He has proven that he is not only a championship coach, but also a leader of a program committed to doing things the right way. He has represented our institution and our state with great pride, on and off the field of play. He is well-deserving of this new contract, which should make clear our commitment to Coach O and the direction of our football program."

But.... since that title, he has been a total & complete train wreck with one horrific decision after another. Both, professionally and personally.
These matters are surely under consideration and review with a watchful eye on how the season unfolds. Scott is closely monitoring the situation.

Scott Woodward is the one that signed off on the 6 year extension, and he even made it a lump sum deal on the buyout. You criticize Alleva, but the original deal would have expired on December 31, 2021. Clearly, Woodward hasn't done his job per your own comments i.e. no oversight.

As several media members have reported, the buyout will not be an issue.
I’m not sure why you continue to belabor this as if it’s an issue. You thought it would be, but it’s clearly not.
LSU knew they could get out of the deal if they wanted to. They did the right thing from a PR standpoint at that moment with the knowledge that it would in no way handcuff them.
I repeat, the contract and buyout are not an issue.
Relax and rejoice fellow tiger fan!

Yeah but he’s one of us!!!
While that sentiment was the basis for his groundswell of support in 2016, it won’t be enough to deter our strong AD from making the move to restore the program to national prominence.
Our AD is unanimously viewed as one of the very best athletic directors in America for a reason. Bringing in Mulkey and the way he handled a very politically divisive baseball coaching search is evidence of his skill and business acumen. He will undoubtedly get the right guy in here.

He’s in over his head. Love the persona, hate the product. LSU needs to clean house and finally move on from the Les Miles era.

I never really mentioned that, other than it seemed unnecessary if the AD was doing his job.

I'll take your word for it, but its an expense the AD put in there.

Well, first you say there is a buyout, now you are implying you get of the buyout.

That isn't what I discussed.
If the AD had done his job, none of this would have been an issue and the contract would have normal expired. You actually claim the AD is not doing his job by not providing oversight to coaching staff.

I'm cool as a cucumber, but LSU could have been onto its next coach last December.

He signed the stupid extension, and took out the installment buyout.

Obviously, this might not have been an issue if he had done his job at a high level per your own comments, and addressed last December. An AD that is not providing oversight to the athletic department and its staff seems like the opposite of "strong AD".
(back to talking in third person?)

Related to this, goes on the radio and tells everyone that he's homesick and his momma is coming to visit him. Maybe it was all bull shite from Gilbert the whole time, but there's no logical reason to put that out to the public.
That’s another issue he doesn’t know how not run his mouth on the radio. He did it all through the DC search last year.

I would say this is all very troubling, not cool at all.
(Of course, taken in light that its not a fabrication)
https://www.theadvocate.com/baton_rouge/opinion/our_views/article_8caafff2-97bf-11eb-86f3-afa5193e54dd.html
I would suggest a reading of this article in particular. The coverup is usually worse than the infraction/crime, what he suggest is the infraction/crime have not only been covered up but also used as blackmail tool or is planned to be.
If Scott Woodward (or the administration) knows about all this and did nothing, he is on the hook more so than Ed. Using that to potentially be involved in a crime seems rather foolish especially at this stage. (again, taking the comments as true - I have no first hand knowledge of the facts provided by the poster)

Woodward also wrote a letter, which is a shame because the public deserved to hear him explain why he went on the radio to say that one of his senior aides, Verge Ausberry, is doing a “very, very, very good job” when in fact Ausberry blundered after receiving information that football receiver Drake Davis had hit his girlfriend.

There is a good answer: look at what Saban did
