Work sent me a new iPhone 12 on Verizon.
Our rural area doesn't have 5G... but went to Houston not long ago and saw the phone switch to 5G. I didn't notice a difference in coverage or quality, but I was getting download speeds of around 70Mbps, where my personal non-5G iPhone 11 (also Verizon) was only getting 5-6 Mbps.
Last time we were in Ascension I got 5G in the Cabela's/Tanger area. Same deal - almost 100Mbps through the Speedtest.net app.
