I also just want to say that I’m jealous for those that can easily consider these things. I’d love nothing more than to pack up and move to a place in the mountains. My wife and I are both teachers, so combined income is enough to live comfortably on here in South Texas. This state also has great retirement.

I don’t want to wait until I retire to get out, so that’s 1 issue.

The second is, our dollar won’t go very far up in any of those places. I could make it work in Pueblo, but that’s not exactly the garden spot of Colorado. Then again, it won’t be much different demographically from where I live now

At best, I’d be looking at a place in New Mexico.

That begs the question, how do teachers make it work up there? Seems like they have to rent or get some roommates.
