If a mother is in the hospital and the baby is killing the mother and they induce labor to save the mother, is that an abortion?
Also, I assume you mean inducing labor before the fetus is viable outside the womb. Lots of women have labor induced for a variety of reasons and it poses no threat to the fetus

If labor is induced to save the mother, and the baby is incapable of surviving despite the usual practices regarding premature babies, then that’s life. You weren’t trying to kill the baby, you were trying to save the mother.
If you dismember the baby, bathe it in saline, etc. to be sure it’s dead before inducing labor, then it’s a little harder to claim you were only saving the mother, wouldn’t you think?
