Maybe.
Assuming he did, it's not because he was popular, it's because we were in the middle of a pandemic, the news was doing everything they could to blame it on him, and a bunch of "educated moderates" didn't realize the election was a binary choice. Trump or Biden.
Half of those 81m thought the choice was "trump" or "teach trump a lesson".
