Maternal- Stormed the beaches of Normandy during D-Day. Later ended up meeting the girl that would become my Grandmother outside of Paris, France and brought her back to Texas. She passed away 4 weeks ago at 94.
Paternal- Drafted into the Army, suffered back injury during Basic in North Carolina, sent home.
Unfortunately both of them were gone before I was born.
