I know it won’t be well received, but I may be able to provide some speculative context here.

In the lengthy and contentious interview Chief Edwards game with WVUE (see my post above for link) he clearly states that this group of nursing homes had obtained and equipped this warehouse to temporarily house 300 to 350 residents. Upwards of 800 residents were evacuated there, which obviously was far too many.

Is the NH owner required by LDH to have an emergency evacuation plan that accounts for every bed in their facilities?

What I’m saying is, and I could be wrong, I’m assuming this warehouse wasn’t Plan A for everyone displaced there.

The owner isn’t, but the licensed administrator(s) is, for any patient needing evacuation or accommodation. Ability to evacuate is a LDH-mandated part of pre-residency and ongoing appraisals/assessments.

I’m not suggesting they didn’t drop the ball, because they did - that’s obvious; merely providing a lens other than the evening news.

If too many were evacuated there, then once again all fingers should point back at LDH / GOHSEP as they arranged for the emergency evacuation transportation to the facility after the original transportation contract fell through. The state can’t pretend they had no idea of the numbers being transported there.
