Again, I'm not suggesting that losing weight doesn't have thermodynamic components, I'm suggesting that the hormonal factors to get from a BMI of 30+ to a BMI of normal weight is beyond the ability of most people, because the body will fight very hard to remain at homeostasis. There's a series of new medications coming out for weight management, some of which are rebranded diabetic meds, which will allow for more direct modulation of hormonal factors to possibly aid in weight loss to healthy weights. Ozempic is one, and Eli Lilly has a highly anticipated medication called tirzepetide coming out soon, with both available for chronic weight management. That's probably the only solution we can come up with but it won't work when we have other things driving that demographic crisis. There's no will for systemic solutions.
