quote:

neither side is innocent of the “well, the previous administration did X” blame game. i guess that’s one of the outcomes of the political climate being so polarized as it is.

International public opinion, nor the opinions of those who are most affected by America’s abandoning people and throwing them to the wolves care one iota about which political party is in office or which president or legislator did this or that. All they see is America blew stuff up, started something, and then left it in chaos when they had enough fun and decided to go home.

They care that America gave them their word and after they put their lives on the line for that word, America got out of Dodge and left them to their fate.

The secret to this is the same with Vietnam and other such incidents. If you’re not willing to see it through to conclusion, do not involve yourself in it, but If you do decide to do so, then take some medication for your ADHD and stay focused until it’s done. Either way, but don’t leave the world in a hot mess because you lost interest, focus, or patience. If it’s important enough to take lives and lose lives over, then it’s important enough to finish the job you started.

I disagree so much with your last paragraph. Sunken cost fallacy is what comes to mind. Obviously not starting something that is a bad idea in the first place is most optimal. But there is merit in realizing a mistake was made and not continuing down the wrong path.
