the 2009 defense was so much more clutch.

2009:

2nd in the league in takeaways
3rd in interceptions
5th in fewest TD passes allowed (run defense was weak though).
Will Smith led the team in QB sacks (13)
15th in points allowed
2nd in redzone percentage

2011 defense
30th against the pass
12th against the run
Roman Harper led the team in sacks with 7.5
31st in takeaways
20th in points allowed
28th in redzone percentage

the big difference where the 2011 defense was better was 3rd down and 4th down defense

our defense was in the Top 5 in 3rd down and 4th percentage that year

So I mean its kinda splitting hairs but you have to give the edge to the 2009 defense for coming up with the big plays when needed and for helping to win a fricking super bowl.
