I will add some objective info to this thread.
Hardcore Chevy Guy here...except for:
1996 V6 Ex Cab Tacoma, 202,000 miles, no issues whatsoever; finally changed timing belt at 200,000; looked brand new.
Replaced with:
2010 Tundra Crewmax Platinum, 196,000 miles no issues whatsoever.
Almost everyone I know with a Silverado or Sierra 2007 or newer (and I live in a truck rich mountain environment), has been in the shop for either AFM lifter issues (change your oil!) or 8 speed replacement...some BOTH. My older sister's (no pics) 2015 Yukon Denali has about 35,000 total miles...now on its 3rd 8 speed transmission; it was a $70,000 rig, she is (and drives like) a grandma...
There is a reason why Toyota trucks have the best resale value. However, Silverado and Sierra are undeniably nice trucks.
