So what do we know about this guy, other than he likes to drink. That’s a given by him being from Lafayette and the fact that he fled the scene before authorities arrived. That was a decision of diminishing consequences.
Fleeing the scene of an accident is much less punishing than DWI with injuries.

Do the same charges of refusing a breathalyzer apply to boating incidents? I realize all he has to do and say he got home and drank a 6 pack there to get over the shock, but just wondering whether that’s something they’d normally pursue.
All being equal though, we all know damned well had it been anyone else the sheriff’s wouldn’t have left without taking the person in,
