I'm leaning toward your latter explanation. I think I'll just wait and see what happens on the 15th of August before I contact anyone.
I should point out that I worked at a satellite office. It wouldn't surprise me if my boss didn't tell corporate I officially quit until a good deal later. I might just go straight to him before asking corporate.
