I disagree. If it was a regular season game I get it. Its the NCG and your getting nothing and Jefferson is playing awful and you have not crossed the 50. If you go back and watch the 9-6 game the reason Jefferson had success was the option. Les being Les figured he would try that again in the NCG and Alabama was very prepared to shut that down which they did.
So maybe Jarrett lee does throw a pick six if hes put in but I would be ok with that knowing you tried everything you could do to win.
On the one hand, I get the "gotta try something" attitude.
On the other, like I posted above- we weren't moving yet, but our defense was hanging in there.
We started pushing Bama around late the first game, after banging futilely against them all game long. Go back and watch that- if we had to score a TD in OT, it would have happened.
Conversely, if you watch the first game when Lee is in, that game is headed towards a blowout. Lee tossing the ball blindly to avoid getting crushed. Would have been a pick 6 eventually.
So in the NCG, Les was faced with this decision:
a) keep banging away, hope to eventually wear them down, score late.
b) stick the guy with the LSU (SEC?) record for throwing pick-6's into the game, against a defense that had already shown they'd eat him alive once.
There was never really a point in the game where you'd hit the panic button, until it was too late to matter.
People scream about Miles never changing strategy, but conveniently ignore the fact that he had the only winning strategy against that Bama team. He just couldn't pull it off twice.
We were the only team that could play with them, and the first time around we beat them. Sometimes, you just have to acknowledge- the other guy is damn good too, and might be better.

well that's fair. We may just disagree and that's fine. That was such an interesting season how you were either a Jefferson guy or a Lee guy and those of us who thought Lee was the right choice have the luxury of looking back but there is no way of knowing what would of happen and it probably would not have made a difference if he played in the NCG.
But I probably will go back and watch as I love to watch old games this time of year as I'm just dying for football. The only game I wont watch is the NCG on 1/9/12
